Discussed about the relief fund
-Those who had Bobby as their
treasurer, he is no longer in this position, so everyone needs to make sure
that all the proper paperwork is on time.
The deadline is Oct. 31st and if anyone needs any forms
contact Libby in Emergency Management.
-As of July 1st, you have
a new fireman on your roster; make sure that you get your info to Dewey and
BB&T
Dewey
received and email from the state about the 9s issue that states that each
structural response. We need to make
sure that all departments have at least one engine and four members. We discussed the issue that even in
communications says that it is a false alarm and we can cancel, we should still
send one truck to check the scene at non-emergency response.
Perry said
that the six-mile maps are being delivered to Raleigh this week and should be shortly
there after that we can start using the six miles
Rural
Fire Commission: no report
Training
Officers report:
-The
fire college will be Nov 9th-11th
-The
books should go out the end of Aug.
800 Grant
report
Kevin
Gordon said that Vincent Ramm is going to be here Tuesday July 31st for the
grant site visit
-We need to provide proof that all
departments report to NFIRS
-The NIMS training does not have to
completed by Tuesday, but they will need to see
that the departments are in the process of getting the training
done. 100 and 200 must be done be the
end of September, and the rest by end of September 2008. Kevin is requesting that each department give
him proof that each department is in the process of finishing the ICS
classes. This could be on letterhead.
-Vincent will also need a list of
inventory that each department has.
800-system
report
Joe stated
they are working hard on getting the radios installed. They have started with the departments in
close that can bring the trucks into Radio Maint. so they can work in the shop. They will get around to other departments as
soon as we can. If you have any
portables left bring them by Radio Maint. and they will get to them as soon as
they can.
They are
holding to have the final proposal in the next few weeks. Once the contracts are signed it will be
12-18 months for the system to go live.
Forrest
Service:
-The
Forrest service as a new assistance for the county.
-Bryan
Rogers is the new 411
-CL 215
program is going to shut down.
-Once
again, if we see that we are going to need something from the Forrest Service,
contact 410 or 411 as soon as you see
the need for it..
-410 has a
couple of “Smokey” signs out at a couple of departments. Anyone interested in these signs, contact 410

wanted to speak about the benefit Softball tournament
-A group will be going down to
Charleston September 6th to give our support to the firefighters and
families
-Aug. 24 & 25 there will be a
benefit tournament for the Charleston firefighters and their families.
-The tournament will be held a
Shelby City Park.
The issue
of an Assoc. Honor Guard was brought up, Oak Grove and Bethlehem said that they
had few members interested. Jake W. said
that he had a contact that would be interested in help training those
interested. Anyone interested send the
names to Jake W. by the end of August
If you are
faced with a railway incident, communications will be looking for the
information posted at the railroad crossing.
The next
association meeting will be Nov.8th at Number 3 and this will be our
annual meeting and we will be re-electing officers. David has asked for vols. to help with a
nominating committee.

Forrest
Ranger report:
-The
county has new assistance ranger- Bryan Rogers.
He will be 411
There
will be a benefit softball tournament for the Charleston firefighters families

Mike Carr is heading up the tournament

It will be a Shelby City Park, Aug. 24th and 25th
The next
association meeting will be Nov.8th at Number 3 and this will be our

Dewey Cook Thanked everyone that help on Moss Lake, April 22nd Volunteer Day May 12th at the fair grounds Go forth hall

New ID’s can now be made in the Fire Marshals office.
ISO maps have been approved by commissioners and ready to be sent back to the state.
Talked about a countywide Honor Guard. Everyone is to take this information back there department and report back at next meeting, if they would like to do this.
Rural Fire Commission: no report
Training Officers report:
Doc Talent told everyone county wide fire school in may 4 one-night classes.
Reported on training funds.
Next training officers May 29th.
New change for EMT’s, EMT cannot let the re cert run out or they have to retake the class.
All EMT need to contact David Clary to make sure they are on his list for certification.
800 Grant report
Kevin Gordon gave update on 800 Radio Grant. 6-month report has been sent in.
Refund check would be sent out to the departments that were getting one.
800-system report
Joe Cherry reported Polkville tower 95% done. Working on some problems on Ben’s Knob.
Looking at cross patching radio system.
Forrest Service:
Travis Shidal reported the Easter frost set the fire season back a few weeks.
If you have a truck from the forest service make sure you have your stickers.
David Dodd pasted out survey results for recruiting & retention.
56% of firefighters did the survey.
David would be going to the next commissioners meeting with report.
Firefighters are asked to come in silent support.

Perry Davis gave a rebate check to the Association in the amount of $263.71
Money comes from the asbestos inspections.

Fire Marshal’s Report: Chet Hill will be here Feb 1st to help finish work on ISO Maps.
Rural Fire Commission: Update on Fire Service was given to the Cleveland County Board Commissioners in there Dec 2006 Meeting
Kevin Gordon gave update on 800 Radio Grant. Radios are here. All departments should be working on MOA.
Also a 3rd party Audit will have to be done, Kevin is getting prices at this time, so far it will be between $4000.00 to $6000.00.
Steve Hamrick made motion 2nd by Gregg Harris, that the other departments pay Waco’s part of the audit. “Motion Carried”
Frank Burns said Kings Mtn. Got the Dear Jon letter for the county Safer Grant.
Grant turned in by the Fire Marshal’s office for a new smoke house.
Talked about recruitment and retention for fire fighters.
David Dodd gave out sample survey that will be mailed out to each department and have each firefighter fill out and mail back in.
New Board Business
Maybe by February 1st 2007 tone test.
Only sirens will be set off no pagers tones and no roll call taken.
Steve Hamrick asked if dispatch could give a pre call out announcement for fire calls. (board Approved).David Dodd said the Comm. Center would try to start about the 15th of Feb.
Discussed 800mz radio template
Looks like at this time there will be 1 dispatch channel, 6 fire operations channels, 1 talk group channel, and mutual add channels.

Jeff Cash Talked about Search and Rescue
A class will be offered in this April book and class fee would be free.
If a person wants a certificate is would be $50.00 for NASAR or $10 ERI
And Burke County Drill will be in February.
Community college report: 370 were at November school. Schools set for next November.
And be watching the mail for the spring Fire school.
Rural Fire Commission: Update on Fire Service was given to the Cleveland County Board Commissioners in there Dec 2006 Meeting.
Cleveland County Board Commissioner Johnny Hutchens thanked all the Firefighters and departments for what they do for our county.
Kevin Gordon gave Grant report (see board meeting above)
Forrest service Travis Shidal said spring fire season is very close. And due to a DOT law changes they only have one dozer to cover 8 counties’ that is DOT legal so if you think you need a dozer call him so they can get it started
Tim Moore said him and Debbie Clary was working on getting the new DOT law change.
Talked about board meeting and the survey letter that will be mailed out to each department
King Man. Fire Department will host next Meeting. April 26th
Roland Hamrick gave the program about the May 25th 1979 Fire in up town Shelby.
And stress to everyone safety and accountability.
